“To understand the reach of technology’s tendrils through the sports industry, look no further than the companies making up Sports Business Journal’s second annual list of the 10 Most Innovative Sports Tech Companies. The group is transforming many facets of the professional sports space. The list was determined based on the companies creating a tech deployment that changed how people view technology and/or shifts how the industry operates because of it; finding a novel way to tangibly enhance the fan experience; or breaking new ground in enhancing athlete performance via technology.
“Pramana has exceeded our expectations and we look forward to the future growth opportunities we will pursue together,” said David Lehanski, NHL Executive Vice President, Business Development & Innovation. “We are confident that the League, our partners, and our fans will benefit quite significantly from the expansion of our partnership. The incredible capabilities of Pramana’s technology fused with AI will allow us to enhance other areas of our business and overall operations.”
“Whether you’re in retail, whether you’re in finance, whether you’re in sports, whether you’re in entertainment, doesn’t matter. Everybody’s going to want to be able to ask questions with their own data.”
Shift is generative AI software with 100% accuracy, Patton said. A commercial large language model, for example, pulls from internet data and answers while struggling sometimes with nuance and validity. Shift provides a framework for internal verification, plugging into data sources and allowing generation of answers and interesting facts.
Through a partnership with Pramana Labs, a natural language AI technology company, Equibase Company today announced the introduction of Statlines available within the entries section of equibase.com. Statlines are free to use and provide unique insights about horses, jockeys, and trainers entered to run for every track and race across the country. Users can access the free Statlines within the entries section of equibase.com. The available Statlines can be filtered by tags such as jockey, trainer, jockey/trainer combination, horses to watch, exotic wagers, and track alerts.
“It will scan the database, and it will look for combinations of hidden events occurring in every race, every track, every day, everywhere in North America, so that if you’re a horse player at Finger Lakes, versus a horse player at Churchill, you still get these statistical pieces of information,” said Pramana CEO Corey Patton.
“We're excited to offer Pramana’s capabilities on our cloud-based platform to enable quicker and easier natural language insights for our customers,” said Vita Shannon, Domo's vice president of partners and ecosystems. “Domo is committed to enabling easy access to data and insights where work happens, and the integration with Pramana’s technology will bring immediate and significant practical business value.
“The reason we named it Pramana is because we think there's a two-way conversation with data,” Pramana CEO and co-founder Corey Patton says of the Sanskrit word defined as “means of knowledge.”
“We want Alexa to be a go-to sports source for all types of fans,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an email. “Our vision is for Alexa to be able to answer any question about any sport, athlete or game/match.”
With data more valuable than ever, the NHL has partnered with a North Carolina startup to get the most out of the league’s historical stats.
